"The Boy in The Striped Pajamas by John Boyne"
Chapter Two
Chapter Summary
Once again, Bruno's eyes opened wide, his mouth made the shape of an O, and his arms stretched out at his sides. The house was nothing like his house in Berlin, it stood on a quiet street neighboring other big houses. Already, he missed his three best friends Karl, Daniel, and Martin. He missed the people strolling around and the fruits and vegetable stall plied high. Mother; obviously tried of Bruno's complaining, told Bruno to go upstairs and help Maria unpack his belongings. Upstairs with Maria, Bruno continued complaining, when the door to his father's room opened and a serious-faced soldier came out and walked down the stairs. A moment passed and Bruno walked over to his window to look at his bedroom view. It was, it felt, cold and unsafe.
Reaction
It made me wonder what was it that made Bruno feel unsafe and cold. Though, I was sure it might not have had something to do with the serious soldier. Something caused his eyes to be opened wide, his mouth made the shape of an O, and his arms stretched out at his sides.
I Love how the author keeps us in suspense.
